3 Procedure Types
- Micro-needling (we use the SkinPen®)
- SkinPen + PRP = “PRP FACIAL”
- SkinPen +PRP + Derma Fillers = “PRP FACELIFT”
Micro-needling / SkinPen®
The SkinPen® Precision system is the only Class II, FDA cleared micro needling device legally marketing in the U.S. SkinPen® is different from traditional micro needling derma-rollers that can bend, break or even rust, resulting in possible infection or scarring with reuse.
Microneedling with SkinPen® is a method of skin rejuvenation that works with the body’s own process to produce a smoother, more youthful complexion. Also referred to as collagen induction therapy, the procedure stimulates the production of collagen underneath the skin’s surface to reverse signs of aging and create a healthy, supple appearance. The procedure is performed using topical anesthetic and most patients have little or no downtime after the procedure.
SkinPen® can be used on nearly any area of the body, although the most common treatment areas are the face, neck and chest.
Combining SkinPen® with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Our “PRP Facial”
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma, a concentrated group of cells in the blood that contain growth factors and stem cells. These special cells are particularly efficient in promoting healing and cell renewal to produce healthier skin from the inside out. Sometimes called the vampire facial, the combination of Skinpen and PRP can produce dramatic, long-lasting skin rejuvenation results.
PRP is obtained by taking a small sample of your blood, just like you have drawn for blood testing purposes. We then place the blood into a centrifuge that separate the platelet rich plasma from the rest of the blood cells.
The SkinPen uses the fractionated pattern of microneedles to drive the PRP into the dermo epidermal junction of the skin and the SkinPen device allows us to vary the speed and depth of the treatment so we can safely handle all different areas of your face and body.
The PRP therapy is widely accepted as a very effective treatment and takes advantage of the body’s own powerful growth factors to stimulate healing and rejuvenation.
Combining PRP + Dermal Fillers
Our “PRP Facelift”
The most popular combination is using PRP therapy with dermal fillers such as Juvederm, and Restylane. By combining PRP therapy with dermal fillers, you can increase the collagen production in the skin and plump the youth right back into your face.
Step 1 –Filler Injections
A hyaluronic acid-based filler (like Restylane® or Juvéderm®) is injected precisely in target areas to help sculpt a younger appearing, yet natural looking face.
While injecting filler, our expert team takes into account the mathematics of beauty as defined by much research to avoid creating an unnatural shape. Dr. Smith and her Cosmetic Nurse Injectionist takes time to understand your desired results before any injections, so that we share a common focus.
Step 2 –Platelet Rich Plasma
After using injectable fillers to achieve a more youthful appearance, we will perform a standard blood draw (approximately 2 teaspoons). Your blood will be run through a centrifuge to separate and isolate Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), that is also known as growth factors which have been identified to help heal damaged tissue.
Step 3 –PRP Injections
Once we have isolated the PRP created from the previous step, our team will then strategically administer it to key areas using a small needle. These growth factors then activate multi-potent stem cells already in the skin, enabling them to generate newer, and younger tissue.
Some difference will be immediately visible but more improvements will develop over the next few months as these vigorous, healing cells do their work. Skip the surgery, incisions and heavy anesthetics of a conventional facelift. Forget about being out of circulation for weeks while a conventional facelift heals.
